Looking for advice on the best neighbourhoods to stay in Amsterdam outside the centre. looking for a quiet artisic/alternitve neighbourhood that has some nice cafes or restaurants to offer for when we don;t want to be in the city, but with easy access to the center.

I have been to Amsterdam a few times but always stayed around the centre.
However, for a ‘quiet, artistic, and alternative vibe’ with good cafes/restaurants and easy city access, Amsterdam Noord and Oud-West stand out as top choices.
Westerpark offers a mix of liveliness and calm with cultural venues, while Plantage is perfect if you want a very peaceful, green, and local atmosphere.
How long will you be in Amsterdam? Will you be looking for hotel accommodation or an Air BnB?
The recent Noord/Zuid metro line and free ferry from Centraal Station make it easy to get to and from the centre of Amsterdam.
