I keep hearing that Venice is insanely crowded, so I’m looking for a hotel in a quieter part of the city. Can anyone recommend a hotel in Cannaregio or maybe Dorsoduro? We don’t mind walking or taking the vaporetto to get to St. Mark’s, we just want to be able to sleep without hearing rolling suitcases all night long.
If you’re staying in Venice, it quietens down at night.
Pick a hotel close to where you want to spend your days.
@theresa You might also consider staying on one of the islands. They’re beautiful and much quieter compared to the main tourist areas.
I previously stayed on Lido and absolutely loved it. It felt more relaxed, less crowded, and still very easy to reach central Venice by vaporetto. After a busy day in the city, it was really nice to return somewhere peaceful.
If sleeping without constant noise is a priority, Lido could be a great option.
I stayed outside main Venice in Venice Mestre and loved it. It was quiet and easy to bus or train in to main Venice in less than 20 minutes.
I stayed at Hotel Arcadia Venezia when I visited and really enjoyed it. I was there for two nights and honestly had no complaints at all. It’s in Cannaregio, which felt much quieter than the main tourist areas but still easy to get around from.
It was also reasonably priced, which was a nice bonus for Venice. Might be worth taking a look if you’re trying to avoid the busiest parts of the city.
