5 stars all inclusive hotels vs an “exotic” epic experience - what’s your pick?
I recently went to Japan with two friends - They were very much looking forward to a 5 meal course - I just wanted to spend the day having fun in Nintendo World
so we decided to split ways that day!
I find it so fascinating how people value different things and how they choose to spend their money while travelling - I’d love to hear your thoughts and travel stories!

I would rather do an epic adventure! Fancy hotels are wasted on me:)

I agree with @Moodymel - I would definitely take the epic experience any day! I’d pretty much sleep anywhere to get a real sense of adventure and explore some epic places! I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a luxury hotel, would also be a waste on me!

Staying in a fancy hotel can be an epic experience.
If I had the money, I would be ‘living’ in the best hotels, for sure.
When I travel on a budget, I always try to pop into some of the best hotels, and I have been lucky enough to visit some very exclusive places; Palace Hotels in India, Castle Hotels in Europe.
Even just a having a coffee in the lobby of the Baur au Lac when the Prime Minister of England walks by; drinking a beer on the on the terrace of the Cataract in Aswan at sunset; or sipping on a Singapore Sling at Raffles watching the pedalos roll by are epic experiences that didn’t cost me a fortune.

What would you consider an epic adventure?
Do you have any epic adventures planned?
I’m thinking about long-distance bike touring. It would save on travel costs and keep me fit.
I’d need to eat more calories, but I’m sure I can cope with that.

A great point @TravelNotes - you don’t have to fork out to stay at these hotels, just visiting can be an amazing experience. Agree with a Singapore Sling at Raffles for an epic experience in Singapore!
