If you had a pretty large budget to take a 2 week honeymoon, where would you go?
We’ve travelled extensively through Europe but the rest of the world is still relatively unexplored by both of us, and we are open to anywhere!
We usually prefer to travel on a budget and stretch out money, but want to splurge on our honeymoon.
So where are your most romantic destinations?
If it was me I’d book a private luxury safari, probably through Zimbabwe (Victoria falls), Uganda (for the Gorillas) and then Tanzania for more wildlife spotting, ending in Zanzibar for the romantic beach huts and turquoise oceans!
This sounds like my dream trip, maybe not the most traditional kind of honeymoon, but wow, what an adventure to start your new married life!
Safari is a great idea, and it’s a bucket list trip for me.
I might need to convince my better half that being in the bush is romantic though! As I feel like the more luxurious hotel safaris aren’t that authentic. If I’m going to do a safari, I want to do it right!
South East Asia! Personally a bit of temples and culture mixed with fun water activities and relaxing time at the white sand beaches? Bingo! Indonesia particularly
it is cheap in general which allows you to book a more elevated hotel for less, I’d personally go for a Bungalow, so romantic - you can splurge as much as you want without breaking the bank
You can then book some island hopping tours so you can mix some alone time with fun activities and socializing!
I would say, first choose a destination you both always wanted to travel to. I always heard that the resorts in Tahiti, the Maldives or Bora Bora are the ideal spot for honeymooners. If you are looking for both relaxation and adventure, I would also second doing a safari and maybe staying at a resort in Zanzibar or another country in Africa to relax and just have some alone time with your loved one.
I agree with ck_explorer about the Safari. If you are concerned your partner may not want to rough it in the parks you can compromise by ending in Zanzibar at a really nice spot for some downtime and beach reading
Thailand (specifically the Gulf islands) can be a great spot if you are looking for a romantic beach honeymoon. If you’re looking for some incredible culture and food, I’d have to say Japan could be an amazing option. I wouldn’t say it’s super “romantic” in the traditional sense, but what’s more romantic than drinking sake at a karaoke bar in Tokyo at 2 am and then eating some late-night Ramen after?![]()
omg second all of this about Zanzibar. Also you really don’t need to tough it out on safari there’s some pretty luxurious camps and set ups. Focus on the Serengeti and then you can also fly out of Kiliminjaro airport to Zanzibar and have that luxurious resort stay!
I was just on safari in South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Personally, I’d skip Zimbabwe. The country used to be the breadbasket of Africa and now it’s in great distress financially because of the government. If you have been to see other falls like Niagara you won’t miss much. It’s also very dangerous outside of the falls area. Poaching is rampant, which broke my heart.
