African Safari recommendations

Hi, I’m looking for African Safari trips for July/August. I am a solo female traveller. Which tour companies or safari trips would you recommend? I have travelled with Exodus, Intrepid and G Adventures. I would probably prefer lodge accommodation rather than camping, but I’m not against camping for a few nights…

Have you thought about whether you want to visit East Africa (Kenya/Tanzania) or Southern Africa (Botswana, South Africa, Zambia)?

Exodus, G Adventures and Intrepid are great options.

If you want a similar operator I would recommend Explore! 10 Best Africa Tours & Trips 2026/2027 - TourRadar

They have some great tours in Eastern and Southern Africa for Safaris.

If you want to go with a local operator I would recommend: World Adventure Tours: All Tours & Trips by World Adventure Tours in 2026/2027 - TourRadar

Their reviews on TourRadar are great!! I did a tour with Almighty Kilimanjaro and they were great but they are more focused on hiking Kili. Which I could also highly recommend.

Hey @traveler_689763!

I might be a little biased, being from South Africa, but I would recommend going to South Africa for a safari. Especially the Kruger National Park.

It also depends on how many days of safari you want to do. There are a lot of options! This tour on TourRadar with a local operator checks all your boxes. :lion:

Yes, Tanzania and Botswana and Zanzibar are also on my list!!!

Tanzania with beaches in Zanzibar after a safari work well together.

Combining that with Botswana is a little more complicated; unless you have the time and money.

In which case, Botswana is a good choice for luxury safaris, often featuring mobile camps and exclusive lodges.

With its unique water-based safari experience and rich biodiversity, Botswana’s Okavango Delta offers a completely different experience to The Great Migration in Tanzania.

Hi,

I did a solo safari in Tanzania last month. It was everything i wanted. I used Zara Tours. They were top notch and just as good as an Intrepid Tour imo and Less expensive.

It ended up being just me and another young woman from Germany. We had a fantastic time. I Saw everything!! - Nick

Just wanted to add we did Tanzania last year and that was amazing. We booked through Serengeti African Tours and there were a few solo travellers on our vehicle with us. It was really good and there is also the opportunity to go to Zanzibar for some recover afterwards
