Looking to do an African Safari this summer —thinking about Kruger, Amboseli, Botswana etc. the great migration would be a highlight. Anyone have recommendations for group tours ? I’d be travelling solo…so prefer joining a group! I’ve seen some really top-end tours (like 40K US) which a bit expensive . Anyone have good experiences with mid-range group tours? Is also be happy to connect several tours to cover as much as possible!
The Great Migration is primarily visible in the Masai Mara (Kenya) and Serengeti (Tanzania).
Amboseli National Park (also in Kenya) is famous for its large population of elephants.
Many travellers successfully combine several tours to cover multiple parks and countries; for those who might not know, Okavango Delta is in Botswana and Kruger National Park is in South Africa.
If combining East and Southern Africa safaris, the prices can rise considerably.
When comparing safari prices and tours, it’s imperative to check what’s included, and more importantly, what’s not included.
Flights, type of accommodation, meals, gorilla passes.
All of these need to be considered, as well as getting to and from the start and end of the tour.
Booking with an agent at home will probably include flights. Booking tours online, most certainly will not.
Combing tours also increase the costs; when you factor in getting from one tour to another and extra accommodation, if the dates don’t quite match up.
On TourRadar, you could look at Great Migration Safaris and Great Migration Tours & Trips in Africa.
Hope that helps,
