Looking for any advise for a first time traveler thats never been anywhere lol!. But really would love to start traveling and, have no idea how to start or, even where to travel to first. i’ve always wanted to travel but dont have a lot of money so traveling on a budget is really important to me. I know their are lots of places you can travel to that are budget friendly. I would love some recommendations to start with. Im very ease going dont care much for fancy hotels. I am more into food, local culture, history, and seeing amazing sites possibly meeting som great people along the way. TY!!!

Hi! I get how you’re feeling. I remember being in the same spot before my first trip. It feels so overwhelming at first, but honestly, once you get going, it all starts to make sense.
Traveling on a budget is doable, especially if you’re not into fancy hotels and just want to experience the culture, food, and vibe of a place. That’s honestly the best way to travel, in my opinion. You end up having more meaningful experiences and meeting lots of interesting people along the way.
There are so many places that are affordable and amazing. Like, Portugal it’s beautiful, super chill, has incredible food, and doesn’t break the bank. Vietnam is another one, affordable and full of life and good food. And Mexico is another option. You can wander the streets, eat street tacos, and be happy for days.
Honestly, the best advice I can give is just to start. Pick one place that excites you and go from there. You don’t need to plan it all out or have everything figured out. Just get there, stay somewhere simple, explore, and let things unfold. It’s such a learning experience, and it’s so worth it. Hope this helps!

Travelling for the first time is so exciting!!!
Where are you travelling from? I travelled quite a lot already and I started always in budget friendly places (or made it budget friendly myself as I didn’t have that much money in my 20’s either) - so happy to help you out! What’s your estimated budget?

@GTJourneys Portugal, Vietnam and Mexico all sound amazing! And I defiantly agree i need to pick a place and lets things unfold. sometimes planning gets a bit overwhelming so thank you for the advice.

My original thought was Thailand. It’s cheap, the people are friendly, the food is incredible, and it’s extremely tourist friendly! With that said, the majority of your budget will likely go towards flights (long-haul flights from Toronto tend to be pretty pricey) but once you get there, sticking to a budget is a breeze. Another option could be somewhere in Centra America like Nicaragua. Though it might not be the easiest to travel to for first time travellers, you can definitely ball on a budget there!

You could do Mexico as well! With the cost of flights you could try something like this tour 7 Days – Marvelous Mexico: Culture, History & Tradition by Responsible Travel South America (Code: MEX 1) - TourRadar and the food scene in Mexico City is meant to be incredible!

I’m so excited for you to travel for the first time
It will be amazing and you won’t look back!
I think Costa Ric would be perfect for a first time traveller, it is a safe and friendly country (‘the happiest place in the world’)!
Flights from Toronto look pretty reasonable, and this tour could be great for you: https://www.tourradar.com/t/326389
It’s run by Intrepid, a globally renowned operator, and has the option to share a room with another traveller (if you are travelling solo), which helps keep the cost down. And you’ll be with a group so you have som travel buddies to experience your first travels with!
It’s got a bit of everything, beaches, wildlife, nature - what more could you want!
Please let us know what you choose and I would love to hear after your travels how it all went
