A lot of itineraries tack Lake Como or Lugano onto a Switzerland trip, and on paper it sounds a lovely contrast. I just can’t tell whether it enriches the fortnight or waters down the alpine bit we’re really there for. If you did the combined trip, did the lakes add to it or distract?

I loved the Lake Como area! It honestly had a mountain essence, like the whole lake is surrounded by beautiful mountains, and it is so relaxing! I think it would definitely add a little something to the overall trip, and would jump on an itinerary that gives you a bit of both worlds!
