Everyone warns us how eye-watering Switzerland is once you add up the trains, the meals and the mountain excursions. We’re wondering whether a packaged tour with the rail and excursions bundled in actually works out better value than piecing it together ourselves - or whether it just hurts a little less. Did a tour feel worth it on the wallet?
We travelled to Switzerland and made our own hotel and train bookings, and it did in fact sting a lot! We booked a day trip mountain excursion, and while expensive, it felt like good value for the price.
In hindsight, it probably would have felt easier with less sting if we booked everything together ![]()
