Can someone share their recent experience on foods costs in Paris? I’m going during winter, I’m not expecting michelin restaurants for this price, but some local Parisian cuisine would be nice, nothing fancy. Do you think this is doable on €50, for breakfast lunch and dinner?
I definitely think it is doable @carole, if you plan well and go cheap on breakfast and a basic lunch.
If possible, try to avoid buying too many drinks, coffees etc when your out. Have them at your hotel, and drink tap water.
When I travel in Europe, I go super light on breakfast, usually get some bananas and cereal bars from a supermarket so very minimal costs, you can get croissants for a couple of euros at local bakeries, so that is a nice local breakfast too!
If you stick to some simple sandwiches/baguettes for lunches, or even make your own. Then you could have 30eur a night for dinner. There are quiet a few places in Paris that do set menu’s which you can definitely find for that price in local bistros, plus a glass of wine maybe.
I think with a food budget you can always make it work, you just have to be mindful about how and when you choose to splurge a little and cut back elsewhere. Have fun exploring Paris!
@Carole use the “ bouillons” in Paris cheap restaurants, no booking that serve traditional foods. A couple of FB pages are great too to find cheap eats. Le Guide Ultime ot LGU for short, and Le Bonbon. They listed set menu at €12.
Have breakfast at the hotel.
If it’s a buffet in a half decent hotel (Mercure or Novotel), you might not even need lunch.
If you skip breakfast (a good Petit Déjeuner can cost around €20), think about a Plat du Jour at Midi.
I do like an evening meal, with a couple of beers and maybe a glass or two of wine.
Many places do ‘starter and main’, or ‘main and desert’ combos.
On a budget of fifty Euros for the day, you may have to skip the drinks.
