I’m trying to plan a budget trip to Paris and struggling to find anything under €150 a night that doesn’t look like a closet. Does anyone know of any decent, affordable hotels (maybe in the Latin Quarter or Montmartre)? I don’t need luxury, just a private bathroom and a clean bed. Or should I be looking further out near a metro line?

I usually stay around the Opera area because it feels very central and easy to get everywhere from there. I’ve stayed at Hotel Excelsior Opera for 20 years — the rooms are small, but the location is really great.
