I know, I know, London is crazy expensive right now. But I’m hoping someone has a hidden gem recommendation. I’m looking for a hotel for 3 nights in May that isn’t a total shoebox and has a private bathroom. Ideally under £200 a night. I don’t mind being a bit further out as long as it’s near a Tube station (maybe zone 2?). Just want somewhere clean and safe where I don’t have to share a toilet down the hall.
Depends on what you were hoping for - but there are definitely of options for under £200 per night and centrally located if you are happy to stay in 3 star chain hotels with no character!
When i go to cities in UK I often use either Travel Lodge or Premier Inn because they tend to be most affordable and offer pretty decent locations - i can deal with the lack of atmosphere as I’ll be out expect for sleeping! You won’t find these on booking platforms like booking.com or hotel.com as they only book direct.
They are basic hotels, some have 'premium’ options, some are better than others. Premier Inn is generally better than Travel Lodge.
But these will definitely have a private bathroom, beds are also comfortable and will be clean, not too small - but can opt for the better room styles too.
Also depends what nights you’re going and how far you book in advance. Fri-Sun the price jumps significantly vs week days, especially in London. Booking as far in advance as possible gives you better rates too.
