Heading to Copenhagen for 4 nights in early June and my bank account is weeping. I’m 34, way too old to share a room with 7 strangers, but I also can’t stomach 1,800 DKK for a Scandic.
Are there any private room hostels (Steel House Copenhagen? Generator?) or small guesthouses where you can get a private room with private bath under 1,200 DKK? Or is that a fantasy in this city? Willing to be a bit outside the center if the metro is easy.

Check out Cabinn Metro. It’s between the airport and the city center.

You can get a private room under 1,200 DKK in Copenhagen, but it does depend on which four nights in June.
You’ve already mentioned Steel House Copenhagen and Generator Copenhagen.
Others to think about include Danhostel Copenhagen City and Meininger Hotel Copenhagen.
If you’re okay with shared bath, you could probably get the price down a little at a guesthouse.
