Morocco during Ramadan

I finally booked a tour during the January sale and will be going to Morocco for the first time in late February. I’ll be arriving into Marrakesh on what could be the first day of Ramadan and was just wondering how life in general changes during this time?

Should I be worried about eating/drinking during the day or is it seen as disrespectful to be eating or drinking in public during this time?

Happy to be respectful and follow any rules I’m expected to but would just like to get an idea of what to expect before I arrive.

I would assume since you are doing a tour the guides will give you the best advice and bring you to places that are operating during Ramadan, probably out of sight from locals (in hotel restaurants and Riads). I know from local friends that you are more than welcome to eat, but you should do it respectfully and more discreetly. But locals are used to tourists as well, so are probably getting a bit more used to it.

Thanks @TrailBlazrMarc - yes my operator G Adventures said that they’ll make some amendments to the itinerary so that everything still goes as planned but I’m arriving a couple of days before the tour begins so just wanted to check if there’s any do’s and don’ts!

I will also be in Egypt and Turkey during Ramadan and had to do a lot of research along with what I should wear during that time as a woman. I LOVE food, so I hope we will still be able to easily have access to food during that time. For me, my trip totals 18 days and I travel to eat lol
