Which is the better mountain road in Romania?

I know there is the famous Transfăgărășan Highway in Romania but I also heard there is another road called Transalpina. Which road would you recommend taking? I know Transalpina is the highest road in the country but Transfăgărășan is more famous for some reason? Does anyone know when either of these roads open during the year? I think they close both of them down durting the winter months due to snow but I am unsure.

Romania is such a beautiful country with it’s Carpathian Mountains! I believe when I visited Romania back in 2016 we took the Transalpina road. It was so cool because we were there only a few days after it opened (they do close it during the winter months). I believe we drove through the road in May and it was super cool to see how high we actually were and how much snow was on the road! There was a point where the snow on either side of the car was taller than our car!!!

Perfect timing for this question @anthony . I just came back from a weeding of a friend in Romania in Semenic and it was a really beautiful area. Unfortunately I was just there for the weekend so I could not explore that much.

I am planning to potentially go back in winter and I found this really cool tour. There are also another few options I am looking at as
