I am thinking of traveling to the Balkans, and I don’t know whether to also include Romania in my trip. Is it worth going?
I think it would be worth visiting, Romania is famous for its castles and stunning nature. While you’re in the Balkans you don’t want to miss visiting the famous Transylvanian castles, with Bran Castle being the famous 14th-century hillside fortress associated with Dracula legend. There’s also the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve that’s known for being one of the greatest wetlands on earth.
If you end up going in spring, Maramureș is absolutely beautiful. Romania has some incredibly underrated nature and villages that still feel very authentic.
If you ask me, and you have the time, everywhere is worth going; if only to see for ourselves.

If you are a Trekker, the "Transylvanian Alps trip is very good.
