Things to do in Boston that locals actually do

This will be my second trip to Boston (going in May for 4 days) and I already did the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, and the aquarium last time. Loved the city but this time I want to feel more like a local and less like a tourist.

Where do Bostonians actually hang out on a nice spring day? Any neighborhoods worth exploring that aren’t on the typical tourist map? I’m into craft beer, bookstores, and outdoor markets if those are a thing there. Also open to good day trip ideas that aren’t Salem or Cape Cod.

Interesting. It’s now May 19th and this was posted 12 hours ago, so are you going this week, next week, or next year?

This is gonna sound totally random - but I happened to sneak into the Boston Public Library while wandering one afternoon while visiting for work. It blew my mind- so beautiful and old style, it gives Oxford vibes! I doubt locals spend time there, but it really felt off the tourism path and I really enjoyed it!
