The Storr - what shoes are suitable?

Has anyone been at old man storr and knows what type of shoes I need for the hike up there? I heard it can get slippery but the path should be quite good? any recommendations?

I haven’t been there myself, but given that it’s one of the busiest attractions in the Isle of Skye, I’d say any average walking or hiking shoe will be fine! I’ve done a lot of hiking, and the only thing I would recommend is having a good tread / grip on your shoes for slippery paths  Salomon and Merell are great brands for hiking shoes, or the Hoka Anacapa? If you live near a MEC (Mountain Equipment Company), they have tons of different brands and options.

I think Storr definitely deserves proper shoes.
The paths are OK, but if it has been raining a lot then it can also be quite muddy or slippy. And let’s be real, it’s Scotland :cloud_with_rain:
I’ve seen people attempting it in their sambas and had to turn back.
The reassurance and additional safety of having proper tread and protection of walking/hiking shoes on your feet is worth it in my opinion! You don’t need anything too serious or expensive if you’re not a regular hiker and could get reasonably priced shoes fitted in somewhere decathlon.
Plus keep the sambas clean and dry for your onward travel

Maybe look at some waterproof options for hiking in rainy Scotland, nothing worse than hiking in wet shoes!
