Two of us, mid-40s, 10 days in Central Europe next September. Rule is no more than three bases. Budapest is locked in, Salzburg is locked in, and the last slot is Prague or Vienna. People keep telling me Prague is more fun and Vienna is more elegant. Which would you pick, and why?
How long are you planning to stay?
If Budapest and Salzburg are ‘locked in’, Vienna makes more sense.
I’d also add in Bratislava, from your base in Vienna.
STM Tours even have a ‘6 Day Vienna, Salzburg, Budapest, Bratislava, and the Danube Valley’ tour on Tour Radar, using Vienna as a base.
Ideal if anyone else is considering doing similar, is short on time, and wants the planning done for them; but not for those who don’t like daily bus rides.
