We are staying in Nice for 3 days and want to do a half-day trip to Monaco just to see the casino and the yachts.
Do I need to book the train tickets in advance or can I just show up at the Nice Ville station and tap my credit card.
Also is there a dress code just to walk around Monte Carlo?
No need to book train tickets on that stretch.
The train service runs frequently throughout the day from Nice-Ville station, with the journey taking a little over twenty minutes. It stops everywhere, so you might want to visit some other places too.
As for walking around Monaco (Monte Carlo) there is no ‘dress code’; just keep your shirt on; or you could be fined.
If you want to enter the casino, or eat at fancy restaurants, dressing smartly is recommended.
I’ve done this trip a couple of times
You don’t really need to book train tickets in advance—usually you can just show up and buy/tap at the station.
There are also buses running between Nice and Monaco if you want a cheaper option.
And no strict dress code just for walking around Monte Carlo—smart casual is more than enough. However, for the Casino, they usually don’t allow shorts or very casual outfits, so it’s better to dress a bit more elegant.
It’s a beautiful casino—good luck in advance! ![]()
