Is it really safe to travel to Jordan?

I am going to Egypt next year, and Jordan has been in my bucket list for years. I am thinking to combine the both. Has anyone been there recently and can share their experience?

A friend of mine recently went to Jordan and absolutely loved it. I myself was there a few years ago, and it was very busy and touristy, while now it does not have the same crowds, so you will be able to explore all the amazing spots like Petra and Wadi Rum without too many tourists. Perfect time to go and explore, and on top of that my friend found it extremely safe.

I returned from Jordan last week (Jan, 2026) - and can confirm it’s not only safe but also that the locals we interacted with were pleased to see us, eager to help and many of them were telling us how welcoming all of their fellow Jordanians are. Many of the locals we came across were generally interested in where we were visiting from, what we thought of Jordan and they wanted to talk and share with us.

Our taxi driver one day put in best when he said: “If you need help - just put your hand up in the street and ask - plenty of people will stop to help you out”. We were helped by locals in all sorts of situations.

We travelled from Amman down to Wadi Rum and a range of places in between. We also spoke to people who were traveling solo (male and female) all the way down to Aqaba and all had the same stories of safety, security and generally feeling welcome to share.

I hope you get there.

@micatravels I haven’t been to Jordan myself yet, but it’s been on my list for a long time and I’ve heard very consistent feedback from people who have gone recently.

From what travelers and tour operators say, Jordan is generally considered very safe for tourists, especially in places like Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea and Amman. Many people mention how welcoming and helpful locals are, and that they felt comfortable throughout their trip.

A lot of travelers also combine Egypt and Jordan, usually with organized transport or tours, which seems to make the experience even smoother. As with any destination, sticking to well-known areas, using reputable guides and keeping an eye on local advice seems to be the key.

Overall, everything I’ve read and heard suggests that Jordan is one of the more stable and tourist-friendly destinations in the region.

Also, during my Egypt tour, there were people who continued on to Jordan with this TourRadar trip:

I spoke to them afterwards and they all said they were very happy with the experience.
