Egypt has been a top destination on my bucket list for ages … now I am ready to travel there but am very worried about the politial situation in the countries of Israel and potential war areas around. Has anyone travelled there recently and can tell me what the security is in Egypt? Would you recommend travelling there at the moment?

Following this post as I’m equally as interested in knowing what other people think 
I would say, follow what your government website says. The Canadian Government advises to Exercise a high degree of caution while in Egypt and to avoid Northern Sinai (border with Gaza and Israel) as well as to avoid the Western border with Libya. Otherwise, I think if you avoid these places, travel on a tour with other people and not wonder on your own too far, you will be okay.

Hi there! I’d say - don’t be discouraged!
I just came back from Hurghada myself and I had a wonderful time. I think you have to be cautious everywhere, but Egypt is very much not affected by the war at this moment.
I have talked to lots of locals and they are advising Egypt is safe! I’d recommend going there, I am already planning my trip for next year too

I was just there in November for my birthday this year. Absolutely beautiful and friendly place. I’m a female and went solo. I never felt unsafe, but I also used common sense in any big city- don’t go down a dark alley late at night alone. I just stayed by the tourist area or any place surrounded by people. I just stayed in Cairo, and one day in Giza. I really wanted to see every part of Cairo. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

I recently got back from an eight day river cruise on the Nile in Egypt. I had been in wonder of this country and its amazing history since I was a child. I’m 81 now. I am so glad I finally decided to visit Egypt. I was not disappointed. No danger at all as of last mo th and I certainly didn’t feel that there would be anything in the near or later future.
Get your tickets your flight then pack your bags and go. I travelled alone and the five person group
I was with were just superb. They helped this old guy when he needed a bit of assistance.
