We can probably fit one geothermal lagoon into our Iceland trip and can’t decide between the Blue Lagoon, Sky Lagoon and the Secret Lagoon. Trying to weigh the crowds, the setting and whether the pricier one is worth pre-booking. For those who’ve tried more than one, which was worth the time? Thanks in advance.
Definitely try Sky Lagoon if you can. It was probably my favourite of the three. The ocean views are great and the whole place has a really nice, relaxed feel. The seven-step ritual is worth doing as well. Just book ahead, especially if you are going around sunset, because those slots can fill up.
I absolutely loved the Sky Lagoon as the setting is so beautiful, and it’s so accessible from Reykjavik. I was a little disappointed that you can only do the seven step ritual (so the saunas, mist room, body scrub etc) once but it is otherwise a total luxury.
I think the Blue Lagoon is quite unique but can be extremely touristy. It does take a while to get to and even if you take the cheaper late entry, it still takes at least half a day to experience, but I do think it’s worth the hype if you want to spend a lot of time there, and want a tried and tested experience. There are so many tours offering entry and transportation.
The Secret lagoon feels the most natural, and is becoming much more popular but is still quite awkward to get to if you don’t have a car or are visiting as part of a tour. It definitely has the most authentic vibe, so if that is what you’re after then it’s worth the visit!
