Hi, I’m planning a two-week tour to Iceland, and I would like to ask what the best activities one can do on the island are? Are they physically demanding? What do you suggest, and what advice can you provide to be ready? Thanks!
Iceland is amazing!
It would be good to know if you are planning to go in Winter or Summer, as the activities and recommendations for how to get around differ slightly. Please let us know and then we can provide some additional tips ![]()
Hey @NewTraveler2026
When I went to Iceland, I went on an organized adventure, so a lot of the activities were included or could be added as optional extras.
Time of year: I went in April. Still cold, but not snowy or icy. ![]()

My tour included the following activities that I would say are a must:
- Blue Lagoon: Spent the afternoon swimming and relaxing in the Blue Lagoon.
- Geysir: Watch geysers erupt! Pretty impressive and makes for great footage.
- Solheimajokull glacier: Here you can go for a hike on the glacier with a guide.
- Reynisfjara: This black sand beach is spectacular to witness!
- Skogafoss: One of many waterfalls worth experiencing.
Iceland has incredible nature, and it feels like an alien world. That itself is impressive to witness. Let me know if you have more questions. ![]()
Some are physically demanding such as glacier hikes. But some are more relaxed, like visiting the thermal pools. There are food tours, and even a lava show. There are great companies that offer amazing guided trips that you can customize to your needs, and that way you can be sure you get the most fun squeezed in.
I would say, please, please, please, do an Ice cave tour! It’s worth every penny and will leave you speechless.
It seems like you got a lot of great advice already on this post, but one small recommendation I would have is either on your first or last day of the trip, take the time to decompress at the Sky Lagoon. I loved the Blue Lagoon, but it is so touristy and kinda overhyped. I found the Sky Lagoon to be so much more enjoyable and relaxing!
I’ve never visited Iceland but it’s number 2 on my bucket list so hopefully next year!
Of course Aurora Borealis is the big draw card for me, but something I definitely want to do while Im there is snorkel in Silfra. You snorkel over the fissure between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, and it;s the only place in the world you can do that! Apparently it has some of the clearest water in the world too (glacier filtered)!
I’d love to know how your trip goes and what activities you end up doing @NewTraveler2026!
