Best travel credit cards for Europe trips right now?

I’ve been paying foreign transaction fees like a chump for years and I’m finally going to get a proper travel credit card before our Italy trip in September.

Chase Sapphire seems to be the default recommendation but is it actually the best or just the most marketed? I’ve also seen Capital One Venture X and the Amex Gold mentioned. For someone who does 2 to 3 international trips a year, which card gives the best value? I care more about no FX fees and good points earning than lounge access.
