Has anyone recently visited the Acropolis in Athens and can recommend the best time to go to avoid crowds? Should we buy tickets in advance, and how long does a visit typically take?
Buy in advance…there are time slots allocated…get one as early as possible in the morning…we had out time slot at 12 (not our choice :)) and it was hell hahah
I agree, as early as possible! I went in the afternoon and it was pretty crowded. And it takes maximum 2 hours I would say to do just the Acropolis:)
Do you remember which website you used to book your tickets? And did you still have to wait in line?
I was with TR tour and they bought the tickets and we did not wait at all cause we were in a group
I don’t remember the website sadly, a friend booked it for us, but no, we didn’t have to wait either
You can use this website to get the tickets: Book Acropolis Tickets | Priority Entry & Guided Tours and I agree with the ladies….go as early as possible!
One more question: does someone know if it’s actually for free for students or for <25 years?
i think that is free only for kids up to 5
Hmmm for Greeks it’s free, so I am not sure to be honest! But this is what I found online, so I assume if you are under 25 and from a EU country, then it’s free
we had tickets for our kids
Another thing I found online!
Thanks both
