Best place to know about the Greek Pantheon

Hi, I’m interested in learning about the Greek pantheon, and I would like to ask experienced travelers, what places do you suggest visiting? I have never traveled to Greece, and I’m interested in visiting temples and learning about the ancient Greek religion. Thanks!

History geek here! I went to Greece last year and visited the Acropolis and the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. I booked a tour for this visit because I wanted to learn more about Greek history and mythology, and my tour guide was very knowledgeable. The tour lasted about four hours and was worth every second! The Acropolis has some of the original structures on display, but most of the original stuffs are kept at the museum, so the museum is definitely not to be missed.

If you have enough time, you should also visit Delphi and Meteora. I didn’t have enough time, which was a bummer, but I would definitely go back to explore more museums and historical sites!

I took a day trip to Delphi and had a great time! Our guide had so many tales to tell and it was very cool to see.

this sounds amazing. By any chance did you visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus? I’ve heard that place is amazing.

Delphi I agree 100% It really surprised me!

I did a road trip through the Peloponnese with a friend, we rented a car and drove around. Honestly, one of my best trips. Full of history and adventure. The people are really friendly and the food is amazing. Best part is that if you see a place you like on the way, you stop by and then continue on the road.

I think it’s definitely worth checking out the Acropolis and specifically going inside the museum there. It is a really cool experience but I would do it guided to get all the history! Also go down to Plaka (the neighbourhood right under the Acropolis) after to get some great greek food and experience the old town.

Agree with Delphi! It blew me away there, you can really feel the ancient way of life as it sits high in the mountainside with a stunning view. It is a pretty large site that you need a few hours to explore at least. So many things to see, the Temple of Apollo, the ampitheatres, the stadium for Pytheon games, the Emancipation Wall, it all sends you back in time. There is a musuem at the entrance too so you can learn all about the history.

I took this tour from Athens, which also goes to Meteora (beautiful and very unique), and also stopped at the site of Battle of Thermopylae, it that interests you (Leonidas): 3 Days Tour From Athens To Meteora And Delphi by Visit Meteora with 4 Tour Reviews - TourRadar - highly recommend!

The Acropolis, and it’s musuem are a must to learn about ancient Greece. I also recommend the wlk on the hill behind for some amazing views of it. As are the many sites around Athens. I got a pass that allowed entry to all the sites and went to many (Roman agora, Aristotles school, Ancient agora)!

I also went to Temple of Olympian Zeus @NewTraveler2026 - it was stunning!
