We can’t decide whether to give our first Greece trip to the ancient mainland - Athens, Delphi, Meteora - or to the islands. Some tours try to do a bit of both, which might mean neither gets its due. Which side left the stronger impression when you went?

I always like a bit of both.
After a few days of walking around old stones, it’s nice to get on a ferry or two and enjoy ocean view approaches to a number of Greek Islands.
Depends on what you want to get out of your vacation. I love Greek history and mythology, so the mainland called to me. My husband is much more about relaxation and an amazing view, so he found the islands more appealing. We split the difference and just made our trip twice as long. Ending on a beach on a Greek island was the right call.
