Best places to visit in Kyoto

I am travelling solo to Japan in March next year and want to visit all the cultural spots in Kyoto. Can somebody please recommend some tips on do and where to go? I also want to have experience with a tea ceremony, but I didn’t see all the places available

Kyoto is such an amazing city, I went there on a tour last year. There is so much to see and do.

Here are some places we visited:

Fushimi Inari Shrine: We got up at 4;30am to go as it gets very busy, you will be fighting crowds later in the day. Of course consider safety though if this doesn’t seem feasible being up at this time alone. If you are staying in a hostel check if others may want to join you to avoid the crowds.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple - There was a lot to explore around this area from memory

Nishiki Market - MUST do while there, so many good food options to try

Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and then monkey park - lots of walking but a great area to visit

As for tea ceremonies, I did one in Kyoto but unfortunately cannot recall the name of the one I did.
