Planning a northern lights trip for late February or early March 2027. I know Fairbanks is supposedly under the aurora oval but Anchorage has more to do during the day. Is the difference in aurora odds actually huge or just a few percentage points? My husband is 58 and not into doing dogsled stuff every single day so we need a base with some restaurants and coffee. Any month better than the other for clear skies?
