Hello! I’ve never been to Central America and I’m looking at Belize for a week in January. The problem is I have no idea where to base myself. There’s Ambergris Caye which seems like the main tourist spot, Caye Caulker which sounds more chill, Placencia on the mainland, and then inland stuff like San Ignacio near the ruins.
We want snorkeling AND ruins AND jungle. Is that possible in a week without feeling like we’re constantly in transit? Should we split it 50/50 coast and inland? Any specific towns where you’d recommend spending the most nights?
