Ticket to Colosseum Rome: Underground tour vs General Admission - is the extra cost worth it?

Trying to wrap my head around the 50 different ticket options for the Colosseum. Is the “Full Experience” with the Underground and Arena floor actually worth the extra money and the hassle of trying to snag tickets? I’m traveling with teenagers who get bored easily… is the underground part spooky/cool enough to keep them interested, or should we just get the general admission and walk around the regular levels? It has been quite a frustrating experience finding this information. Hoping someone could help me with this

I have the same question @john! There are so many ticket options for both the Colosseum and the Vatican that it is hard to distinguish if it is worth it.

@RaffaMurgia do you have any insights or recommendations on this? :italy:

My personal recommendation: instead of going for the “full experience” at the Colosseum, I’d suggest getting the standard Colosseum ticket so you don’t spend too much time or money there, and instead pair it with a visit to the Vatican Museums.

The Colosseum is impressive even without the underground part. I still remember visiting it when I was 6 years old and absolutely loving it. (Plus, for under 18s, it’s free)

The Vatican Museums are also anything but boring.

I’d suggest doing the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill on one day since they’re right next to each other, and then visiting the Vatican Museums on another day tho.

I recommend booking directly on the official websites:
