I am planning to go to Dubai and Abu Dhabi potentianlly in November. Has anyone been there and has some recommendations for cool places to go around there? I am not 100% interested in the cities themselves, but hopefully on something on the surrandings

I hear the Museum of the Future in Dubai is a must see! I also heard you can ski indoors at one of the malls in Dubai! Could be a cool experience for some!

I went to Dubai quite some time ago (before it got so popular), and found the city itself (at least what I saw then) to be quite commercial. I got in a taxi and asked to be taken to the city centre, but was taken to a huge shopping mall! And I too wanted to explore outside the city.
When I flew into Dubai, seeing the vast desert and then this city pop on the skyline out of no where was quite incredible. It made me want to get out and explore the desert so I did a day trip in a 4X4 which was really fun (but very bumpy). I had dinner at a desert camp and saw the sunset over the dunes, it was breathtaking! This was the highlight for me of Dubai!
A friend of mine went to UAE last year and snorkelled near Fujairah (about 1.5-2 hours from Dubai) which looks great from the pics! The town itself also has some historic sites such as a fort and Mosque, and there is Snoopy Island for snorkelling and other water sports, (there might even be turtles!). I thought it was worth mentioning as I definitely wouldn’t associate UAE with snorkelling!
