I’ll be travelling through Vietnam and Cambodia, moving to a different city every couple of days. What’s the best product or hack to keep my suitcase organised so I don’t end up dumping everything in it each time?
A very simple trick that has helped me a lot over the years is to roll the clothes for packing
- Makes it easier to unpack or find things if you are leaving out of your bag
- Avoids the clothes from getting wrinkly
I also always carry a small bag for dirty/laundry
Packing cubes! Before these were popular I even used ziploc bags. Think of it like your closet in your suitcase, and when you get to your destination you’re just pulling out each cube and setting them up so easy to put back in.
Also, laundry is super easy to do in Vietnam and Cambodia, there’s a lot of washing services that are available and for not a lot of money. So when you have a couple days somewhere I highly recommend getting your laundry done and it won’t stop you from exploring
Yes, you NEED packing cubes! I have 1 for shirts, 1 for pants/bottoms, 1 for socks/underwear. Super easy to pull one out quickly and grab what you need. I also have 1 plastic case for toiletries, and 1 for electronics/firstaid (chargers/band-aids/cold, pain pills).
As mentioned above, if you travel with small luggage or a backpack, packing cubes really is the way to go!
It keeps all the clothes separate especially if you also have dirty clothes. And packing cubes also helps with packing faster if you travel through a lot of destinations on tour.
Like everyone said, packing cubes are a game-changer! If you don’t have them, then hopefully you at least have a suitcase with a divider. That way, you can have a clean and dirty clothes side when travelling!
Not really related, but wall hung toiletries bags are a game changer. They work perfectly in small spaces with limited bench space or if you’re staying in a guesthouse or hostel with shared bathrooms.
Mine is fitting every inside my shoes!! belts, underwear, socks! Anything that fits - it has saved me ever since!
When you arrive in a destination - take out only what you need for the number of days you are there and leave the rest packed (theres usually more time and motivation when arriving, than having to rush and pack when leaving). Theoretically - most of the clothes you wear when you’re there will go into the laundry bag when you go to pack again - so it should make it easy.
Keep all electronics together, all toiletries together etc, and designate them a specific place in the case, so you can put them back in where you took them from.
