Germany is big on castles, and I’ve been to a few in Bavaria (Neuschwanstein, aka Disney castle and the castles on Chiemsee’s islands).
As breathtaking as Neuschwanstein was, it was hard to enjoy the visit because it was super crowded.
Any suggestions on quieter castles and palaces in these two regions?

- Baden-Württemberg
I will very likely visit Munich and Stuttgart for some sports events and to see friends this spring or early summer.
So driving distance from these cities would be great. Very likely it will be a 100% public transport trip, unless my friends feel like driving
