Does anyone know if it’s better to get a Jordan visa in advance or get it on arrival? I’m concerned about long lines at the airport, but I also heard it might not be straightforward to complete the process before traveling. I haven’t looked into which documents are required, so if anyone has experience or advice, I’d appreciate your insight.
I heard that it’s best to get it at the airport, but the lines are snaking.
If you have enough time I’d recommend doing it before travelling - then you avoid unnecessary wasted time at the airport! You could be lucky and have no line but if it’s busy you might get stuck there for a long time - it happened to me in Bali and I regret not having it done beforehand!
Hi there - I returned from Jordan last week (early January, 2026). You’ll be in the same immigration line regardless of whether you have a visa already or not - the Visa is processed by the agent there… there’s obviously different requirements depending on your Nationality, but as an Australian (and my wife as an EU Citizen), the Visa was very quickly processed on arrival. The whole process was much quicker because I had pre-purchased the ‘Jordan Pass’ - which I’d highly recommend (this was also the recommendation of the tour operator we traveled with).
The “Jordan Pass” is a combined ticket that covers tourist visa and entry to most major attractions. It’s the most convenient and cost-effective option for traveling around Jordan. The “Jordan Wanderer” is what I needed for my tour, but if you plan to spend additional days in Petra outside of the tour, you may consider a different option.
