Istanbul to Cappadocia - bus vs flight vs night train, what's actually sleepable?

Okay so I’m going to Turkey in late April and trying to figure out how to get from Istanbul to Cappadocia without losing a whole day. Options I’m seeing:

  • Flight to Kayseri or Nevsehir (quick but adds airport time)
  • Overnight bus (12 hours, heard they’re actually nice?)
  • The night train/Dogu Express style routes which look confusing

Has anyone done the overnight bus recently as a solo female? I can sleep almost anywhere but I’d rather not wake up to someone going through my bag. Also does the flight save enough time to justify the extra cost if hotel in Cappadocia is already paid for? Tbh I keep going back and forth on this.

I would definitely choose the flight. Turkey’s overnight buses are actually quite comfortable compared to many countries, but Istanbul–Cappadocia is still a long ride. If your hotel is already booked, arriving rested and having more time in Cappadocia is worth it in my opinion. Also, as a solo female traveler, you’ll probably feel more relaxed with the flight option.
