We love the idea of seeing the Rockies by train, and the Rocky Mountaineer looks spectacular, but it adds a fair bit to the cost of a tour. We’re trying to decide whether to prioritise a trip built around it or stick with a coach tour. Was it a highlight worth paying for, or nice but skippable?
It is 100% worth it! We did the GoldLeaf upgrade, and having the glass-domed windows absolutely made the trip for me. And the food was better than I expected it to be.
Oh, definitely!! I feel like the biggest thing to think about is how much time you’re going to spend travelling either way. But with the Rocky Mountaineer, you’re still spending hours getting from A to B, but the travel itself is actually part of the experience. You can get up, have a proper meal, relax and watch the Rockies go by instead of it feeling like you’re just sitting through another transfer day.
@WhisperingPines , do you think you would’ve loved the Rocky Mountaineer as much without GoldLeaf? Like, was the train itself worth it, or did the upgrade really make the experience for you?
