I’m travelling to Germany for 2 weeks, and want to use the rail network to visit several different cities and towns (Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Dusseldorf to name a few). I love to travel round by train where I can. I’ve heard there is a new Deutschland-Ticket, which seems like a great deal for under 60 Euros for a month. I undertsand I can only use certain trains (not the high speed ones), which is fine by me as I like to watch the country from the window. Does anyone know if this is available for tourists or only residents? And can I buy this in advance or how does this work?
Hi Kenneth, as far as I know, the Deutschland ticket can only be purchased as a monthly subscription. Check here The Deutschland-Ticket for just 58 euros per month
So you might be better off using the Germany Interrail/Eurorail pass Interrail German Rail Pass | Interrail.eu
I travel around Germany a lot, and I also love trains. But sadly, with Deutsche Bahn, there are almost always issues and delays. I think about 40% of all trains are delayed. So do leave time between trains if you need to catch a connecting one.
Flixbus is a decent and cheap option (they also have Flixtrains, havent tried it myself but I hear it’s decent)
