Love this question, but this is really a preference type of question and depends on the person!

I have travelled to Thailand and love their food, the best Phad Thai I have ever had was at a small local restaurant just on the beach in Krabi. Thailand has a variety of food options for every food lover and its beaches are picturesque, so highly recommended for food, culture and landscapes :camera_flash: :shrimp: :thailand:

My favorites:

  • Europe: Spain and Italy - classics! Sea food, tapas, pasta, pizza, amazing wine!
  • South America: Are you a meat lover? Brazil and Argentina! Argentina specifically has a mixed of italian and spanish cuisine and a little bit of other countries that migrated throughout the years. Best meat in the world, amazing wine.
  • Asia: Japan hands down. Everything you try tastes amazing and there’s a lot of veggie options! I also think it’s the best rice!
  • Africa: Only been to Egypt and South Africa for a week each, but I loved Egyptian food!
  • Bonus: Mexico. There’s a reason their cuisine is UNESCO heritage. If you can handle spicy food this is for you - you need to try it at least once! Best places to try are outside the Yucatan region (Mexico City would be best)

This is very personal, but intrigued to learn which kind of food you enjoy the most?

I did a cooking class in Seoul with Seoul Foodventures and it was such an incredible experience! We made gimbap and cooked bulgolgi and Gyeran-jjim (steamed egg), which all tasted amazing. I personally love the vastly different Asian cuisines, but there’s something really understated about Korean cooking.

@micatravels’ list is pretty top-tier! My top two have to be Spain (Northern Spain specifically) and Japan. Spanish food was a lot more familiar to me, but Japanese food was completely out of my comfort zone, and it was incredible!

Oh, and one more I almost forgot about was Northern-Thai food… I still have dreams of Khao soi!

Cooking classes are always fun! I did a paella cooking class in Valencia (Spain) and it was amazing, and a ceviche cooking class in Lima (Peru).

If you are going to Italy, don’t skip Bologna if you want gooood food

You can never go wrong with Italy. I did this group tour in Sicily a while back Small Group Sicily Food & Wine Tour (Maximum 8 Guests) by Sicily Activities with 87 Tour Reviews (Code: food) - TourRadar and it was marvellous. Every day, we visited different regions and tried freshly prepared local dishes.

There was even a cooking class and every meal had of course an amazing wine pairing and the desserts are delicious as well.

And since we had a driver guide, we didnt have to worry about driving and drinking and the whole group (total of 8 of us) could really enjoy ourselves.

I thought Indonesia had some amazing food - they have local specialities (Nasi goreng was my favourite!) as well as ‘western’ food but everything I had was just so well made and such high quality across 3 islands - Bali, Flores, Sumatra - compared to UK that is.

Bali of course has the most options, and has some very fancy restaurants that are definitely affordable by western standards (but not cheap), but fine dining if thats your thing.

For a vegan/vegetarian, Vietnam is hands down one of my favorite destinations!

Also, in Taiwan, in particular Buddhist places serve delicious food, often in very peaceful settings.

My partner swears by Korean food - for me it was a bit too much even though I love spicy food! :hot_springs:

Europe-wide, Prague and Bratislava are really really good. Of course they are meat-heavy (if that’s what you’re after, go for it!), but their vegan versions of traditional food are just out of this world.
