Im looking to take a Safari in Kenya/Tanzania next October. Im seeing accommodation options that are either in Lodges or Camps. What is the difference in location? Are there lodges still inside the national parks near wildlife?
From what I’ve seen it really varies and even if you’re accommodation isn’t in the park a lot of it is near by and there’s no wall around them! So even though you aren’t technically in the park a lot still wander out and can be nearby. I would say it depends on your comfort level and budget that you’re looking to spend and let that help make the decision
hey @barry, the main part to consider here is cost and convenience. Camping will be much much cheaper but of course if you are not a camping person, it can be a bit rough (although there are some companies that offer glamping as well). I would honestly suggest a mix of both. Few days camping and then relaxing a few nights at a nice lodge. No matter what you decide you will get offered the same activities, game drives, bush walks etc. And usually the lodges are in close proximity to the National Parks. When I went to Tanzania I did exactly that. A few nights camping and then 2 nights at a lodge. I made the mistake of not booking a group tour and could only budget two nights in a lodge.
