Brazil or Uruguay?

I am going to Argentina this summer and I’d like to do a little escape to the beach. Uruguay and Brazil are near by and I’ve never been, wondering if anyone can share some insights to help me decide? A short trip 4-6 days to disconnect would probably be enough!

Hi @micatravels

I’m surprised this one was never replied to.

Did you get to South America or are you still thinking about it?

Quite frankly, if anyone is going to Argentina and want to do a little ‘escape to the beach’ there’s no need to fly out to Uruguay or Brazil.

Mar del Plata is one of Argentina’s most famous beach towns, located in Buenos Aires Province. It combines the amenities of a big city with the relaxed vibe of a beach town.

However, if it’s more about adding countries to an Argentina visit, Punta del Este is the most famous beach resort town in Uruguay.

I’ve been to them both; many years ago.

There are direct buses from Buenos Aires (departing from Puerto Madero) to Punta del Este; or you can take the ferry from Buenos Aires to Colonia or Montevideo, for a different approach.

José Ignacio, also in Uruguay, is ideal if you want a quieter, nature-immersed beach experience.

As for Brazil; I’ve been there three times and the country seems like one big ocean paradise; with 7,400km of coastline and some 2,000 beaches to choose from.

Take your pick from classic beaches around Florianópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Seguro, Salvador de Bahia, Natal, Fortaleza, and up to Jericoacoara.
