Slovenia vs Croatia - which for short Europe trip?

I have a tough decision to make for my short stay in Europe next month, so I would appreciate an experienced opinion. If you have only one shot, which place would you pick up to visit? I have never been to any of those places. a) Ljubljana e Bled Lake b) Plitvice

That’s a tough one, as we are comparing apples with pears here… A big city against a natural environment… I’m not usually fan of capital cities but in this case I would recommend the Slovenian option, as Ljubljana is really a beautiful and cozy one and Bled, even if touristic, has a superb landscape. If you had the chance to approach Lake Bohinj I would also highly recommend, but it’s a little bit further to the west, might not fit your schedule. Plitvice is amazing as well and has impressive nature, but I’d say too much developed and crowded for what it is (feels like ‘organized natural landscape’) and more limited in the variety of experiences that you can have there. This is just an opinion, of course, based on my personal experience and from all my years as a travel professional

Plitvice national park offers less variety and can be visited within one day. Ljubljana & Lake Bled offers more diversity and you could also still go swimming if the weather allows it

Thank you very much, your reviews were quite precise and exactly what I was looking for, I guess we have a winner.

Also Lake Bohinj is only 40 minutes by bus from Bled, so depending on your time, you could visit both places
