I would choose one day of safari and the rest winelands 
. But if I really have to choose one it would be safari.

Safari!! It’s a once in a lifetime experience! What would be my gratest memory of this trip? The encounter with this incredible animals living in freedom!
Safari, without a doubt! 
For a first trip to South Africa, I’d choose safari because seeing the Big Five in their natural habitat feels like one of those experiences you simply can’t recreate anywhere else. I’d love to wake up before sunrise, head out on a game drive, and just experience the wildlife and landscapes at their most authentic.
That said, if I had enough time, I’d definitely combine it with Cape Town and the Winelands. South Africa seems like the kind of destination where the contrast is part of the magic — wildlife, mountains, coast, food and wine all in one trip. 
But if I have to pick just one for my first time: Safari!

My passion is the Big five. 34 yrs ago I backpacked with my late sister for 3 months the east of Africa and would love to return with my 21 yr old son who has never been and i have been promising to take him. Photo of my sister in 1992, 8yrs before she sadly passed away.
Definitely a safari, with the addition of some shark dives, whale watching, seals, etc.
I would choose the Big Five game drive and elephants of Addo if I only could choose one but all sound amazing! Africa has always been on my bucket list since I was a little girl. My cousin and her husband lived and worked in a Central African country so hearing the stories and receiving souvenirs were the highlight of my childhood.
I’d love to do the Safari first. Love seeing wild animals in their natural habitat, then on to Tabletop Mountain

If I had to choose just one for a first trip, I’d go for the Big Five game drives and Addo Elephant National Park.
There’s something incredibly special about seeing wildlife in its natural habitat, and spotting elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalo and leopards would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. While Table Mountain, the Cape Winelands and the Garden Route all look spectacular, the chance to watch animals roaming freely would make South Africa feel completely unique and unforgettable.
That said, the ideal trip would definitely include a few days in Cape Town as well. The combination of incredible wildlife, dramatic scenery and vibrant city life is what makes South Africa such a dream destination.
My wife and I have had an African safari on our list of things to do for some time. We want to do it right and have the time to enjoy the trip and the people of Africa when we go. This is on the “must do” part of our travel list. A lot of places to see in the world but this is one I will not miss.
Table Mountain for the exercise, and many walking trails lead up the mountain sides. An active trip always piques my interest.
