OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel) review: booked for my parents, what should I warn them about?

Just booked my parents (70 and 72) on their first OAT tour, the Greece one, for May. Both in good shape but not marathon runners. They’ve done Tauck before and loved it and I’m hoping this is a good next step down in price point.

I keep reading mixed things: small groups good, guides great, BUT also “pace is faster than advertised” and “not as much included as you think.” Stuff like airport transfers sometimes being extra, “optional” excursions that are really must-dos so the real cost is 20% higher than the brochure, etc.

For anyone who’s actually done an OAT trip recently: what didn’t they tell you in the brochure that you wish you’d known going in? And did you feel like the “free time” in each city was actually free time or code for “figure out your own dinner”?

Want to prep them so there are no surprises. Thanks.
