Anybody recently been to Morocco and if so, would you suggest it as a “parent suitable” (aka 55+) destination going with a tour? My parents are off for a week and are still looking for a place to go outside of Europe. Other ideas are welcome!
Hey Patricia, I’ve been to Morroco a couple of times and going back soon. Are they planning to go on their own or on a tour? I’m not 100% clear from your text…
What time of the year are they going there?
Have they travelled outside Europe before?
on a tour! next week hahah yes but not very much, so i thought Morocco is maybe much when it comes to cultural differences
well, Morocco offers an interesting “exotic” experience while being super good with tourist infrastructure and quite modern standards in many areas, so they’re not gonna be alienated from their zone of comfort if they don’t want to. And if they want, just walking on their own around any medina can be a pretty exciting experience
Final questions:
Group or private?
Nature vs Culture, who wins?
Slow-paced and see less or fast-paced and see more?
With this I can suggest a couple of tours I think
hahah this is the best personal advice ever! thanks already
group
culture
hm, cant answer. probably slow paced to not overwhelm

these are group tours of about 1 week duration with possible departures next week, mostly cultural as they visit some of the most relevant cities and have a reasonable pace (better for first one than second). To travel on a group tour is always little bit fast-paced from my perspective, but at least it’s not crazy for these ones
if Desert is a “must”, then I can suggest some alternatives. Otherwise that should be fine hopefully
thank you! I’ll suggest them the one you mentioned. They were a bit concerned about security, how did you experience that? i also suggested egypt to them as an alternative..
Morocco is fine in terms of security, at least there’s no more violence than the one we have in Europe. However, they should take care with fraud (trying to charge for more), annoying ‘fake’ guide that pretend to help you and then ask for money, and pickpockets, that’s all. Nothing to be concerned about really, just a bit annoying in Marrakech and a little bit in Fes. Rest should be fine. Plus going in a group helps, they already have a guide, so less touts looking for dollars around
I went there with my children and this year I’m going again with my children (aged 2 and 4), if that helps to clarify what I mean by secure
