Hotels Lucerne Switzerland - side trip from Geneva

Hello Travellers! I’m visiting my best friend in Geneva for a couple of days and she suggested I also go for a couple of days to Lucerne to see a different part of Switzerland. Does anyone have ideas for a good hotel in Lucerne? Ideally something walkable from the train station since I’ll have my luggage. Any traveler have experience with a specific place they loved? I’m not looking for 5-star luxury, just clean and comfortable.

The Hotel Monopol is right by the station.

You could also try the Hotel Central (Morgartenstrasse 4)

Or the Hotel Continental Park (Murbacherstrasse 4)

If you want to stay in the old town, there a are a couple of good choices but the walk is a little longer,

My advice would be to travel light. If you’re only here for a couple of days and you intent to go back to Geneva, it’s a no-brainer. Leave your ‘luggage’ with your friend.

I stayed in Zurich and did day trips by train, but if I went again I would definitely stay more in the Lucerne area because it is such a beautiful part of Switzerland. Since you will already be there, I would also really recommend doing the Bernina Express if you have time, the views are incredible.
