I’m planning my first trip to Italy, but I’m feeling overwhelmed by all the beautiful places to see. What are the absolute must visit destinations for a first time traveler?
Italy has soooo much to offer that it can get overwhelming for sure! Venice, Florence, and Rome are a must for a cultural visit. If you are more into nature and landscapes, Positano and Puglia are amazing!
I personally have never been to Matera, which is an UNESCO site near Puglia, but it’s one of those places that have been in my bucket list for years. Hopefully will visit soon!
Has anyone been to Matera that can share their experience?
@micatravels I have actually just been to Matera 3 weeks ago and let me tell you - IT WAS BEAUTIFUL . We were there for 1 night and spent the whole day getting lost in the middle of the stones and it just kept getting better and better. So if you are travelling to Puglia for a beach vacation, I would 100% recommend adding a stop in Matera.
Wowww thank you @kris you convinced me! I need to start planning this soon
I loved Puglia so I need to come back next year and include Matera!
Thank you @micatravels for your insight. I got super excited about Matera after reading your’s and @kris replies. I also looked at some pictures, and it is stunning! I will definitely consider adding it to my itinerary ![]()
