My wife and I (late 60’s), have been invited by our friends to join them in canada. They wanted to do the Rocky Mountains train, but the thought of being on a train for such a long time put me off. I suggested instead just a couple of days on the train, and to rent a car from there, which they were happy with, but want me to look into and arrange where to go. I’m really not sure where in west canada is good to visit, I know there are some beautiful national parks but not sure how practical it is to visit them by car, and what there is to do once we’re there as we’re not much into hiking. We’re looking at going during the summer, any suggested itineraries or recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Hi Stacey!
While I haven’t been to the Rockies myself (would love to go!), I see tourradar has lots of western Canada tours - including private and self-guided.
