Going on a guided tour of Morocco and I’m trying to figure out the best way to have data on my phone. I keep seeing eSIM recommended (Airalo, Holafly, etc.) but honestly the whole concept confuses me a bit.
Is it actually as easy as they say? Just scan a QR code and you have data? Does it work alongside my regular US plan or do I have to switch something off? And does it work well enough for Google Maps and WhatsApp or is it patchy? I’m 58 and reasonably tech savvy but not exactly an early adopter.
I’ve used Airalo before and it’s worked great for me! You just need to download the app, pick your plan and in a few minutes you have internet for your whole trip. You need to be sure that your device does support eSIMS, but most devices do these days. Important thing to do before starting using your data abroad is to make sure to turn off roaming on your regular SIM to avoid any unexpected charges from your carrier.
